Special Needs: Downed. Doing rehab to regain strength in limbs! Wearing a belly band for bladder issues.
Description:
Shuffles came to us in rescue unable to walk and heartworm positive! He was found in the streets of Dallas dragging his back legs behind him. He had a pressure sore on one of his hind legs, an eye & ear infection and a shelter caused cold at the time of his rescue. His eyes, ears and pressure sores have healed. His heartworms and cold all cured. His rehab is coming along.
UPDATE #1: He is doing so much better and able to stand and walk. He is doing some rehabilitation exercises and getting stronger everyday! Shuffles has the most undefeatable attitude ever. Apparently no one has told HIM that he's disabled. He IS walking and even jogging a little bit. He loves toys and plays with balls just like any other happy doxie does. His personality is very gregarious. He loves people and especially kids. He follows everyone around the house and hates to be shut out of any activity going on in the home. Dinner time is his favorite time of the day and he'll stand at his bowl barking and dancing happily until served. He's very observant and will alarm to doorbells and knocks at the door. He hears cars in the drive and will announce any visitor. When he's not playing, he's quietly resting in or on the nearest blanket/dog bed or at the feet of his parents just enjoying being a member of the family.
UPDATE #2: Shuffles is doing great. He has relearned to walk and can run and wrestle with the other dogs. He even plays ball. He will go get it and drop it at his foster's feet until he throws it for him. His run is more like a horse's gallop but he definitely moves right along. Because of his injury he will never be 100% but he does have a high quality of living. His bowel function is normal. Overall he is thriving in foster care. He is a well-adjusted happy dog that is a joy to know. He makes us laugh on a regular basis. Shuffles is an inspiration.
