Relish is a handsome double dapple boy who was surrendered by his owners who adopted him as a puppy from a breeder. Being a double dapple, he is deaf and only partially sighted. Dogs without hearing can respond well to simple hand signals and Relish has enough sight to get around well. For the most part, Relish has no idea he's remotely handicapped. He is very sweet and playful and craves attention once becoming comfortable in his surroundings.
ATDR and Relish's foster Mom both feel that he would do best in a home with someone who is either retired and at home a lot or someone who works from home. He needs to go to a home with one other dog who is settled and more patient to be his buddy and guide him around when needed. The two will need to be properly introduced to each other and supervised until they get used to each other. He can adjust to more dogs, but, again, his interaction with more pets would need proper introduction and being supervised until Relish is comfortable, because being bumped into by other pets, intentionally or otherwise, frightens Relish possibly causing him to react. He also needs a home with an adopter who is experienced in handling dogs with his handicaps. Being partially sighted makes him afraid of dark objects or clothing, so light and bright is always Relish’s preference! Time and patience will be the key in making Relish feel comfortable in a new home, but this precious little one is so worth it!
Relish is so deserving of a home where he’ll be understood and loved unconditionally. If you have it in your heart to be patient while Relish settles into your life and home, please consider submitting an adoption application for him. When he has a chance to bond with you and his surroundings, he will be a completely devoted best friend and love you more than you could ever imagine!
