Description:
Randy and his companions Puddin and Sheba came into rescue together. Randy is so incredibly sweet...his foster dad calls him McGruff because he resembles the cartoon crime dog! He has relaxed and perked up since coming onboard with ATDR, although he missed his companions and suffered a lack of appetite for a few days in the beginning. He is eating much better now and putting on some much-needed weight. He’s more active and now enjoys playing in the backyard. He enjoys his daily walks with the cat in tow. He’s very good on a leash for potty walks and hasn’t had accidents in the house. He does somehow have a fear of doors, but his foster parents are working with him on that, reporting that he is getting over his fear of coming in the house. It is suspected that Randy spent much of his life outside before coming into rescue, but he’s learning to like the comforts of a soft bed, air conditioning and the company of loving people to share his time with. Additionally he found his voice and is communicating with his foster family more frequently, as well as letting strangers know their place. His bark sounds very much like a Basset Hound! He has shown very little interest in toys so far, so his foster parents took him to Petco where he got to pick out his own toy. He's more relaxed and precocious everyday. yet still very well-mannered and respectful of his people's space. All in all, he’s a quiet, awesome, affectionate boy who loves wallowing in the grass and sleeping in his crate!
Sadly, Randy is heartworm positive, but he has begun treatments and is doing well. He and his companions are so deserving of good loving homes, together or separately, where they'll be cared for and treated as family members! Won't you please consider giving this handsome boy the forever home he dreams of? He'll be ready to go before you know it!
