Description:
Sweet Ellie was an owner-surrender to a shelter in the Valley…frightened, high heartworm positive and severely malnourished. What a sad thing to happen to a precious baby like Ellie…what kind of people would allow her to get in this condition? Our hearts at ATDR were breaking for this little girl in such great need and we jumped at the chance to help her!
Her first stop from the shelter was to spend a few days with an ATDR vet having her health issues assessed and doing what they could to put a plan in motion for a road to wellness. While at the shelter and the vet’s office, Ellie refused food she needed so badly…it took her only a few hours to feel safe and comfortable in her ATDR foster home, and from that moment forward she’s been rewarding her kind foster mom by eating for her, trusting she’s found someone who knows what’s best for her. Ellie needs to gain at least three pounds and thankfully is finally working on it!
Ellie is an absolute little love bug, as sweet as can be, soaking up as much attention as she can get, something she’s probably been deprived of for a long time! She gets along well with dogs of all sizes and children too. She will now bark when she wants something…attention, food, out of the crate she sleeps in! She’s working on her house training and making great progress! She’s a precious little one…hungry for love and kindness!
Ellie is facing heartworm treatments and won’t be ready for adoption for several weeks to come, but no baby has ever deserved a good loving home more than this girl. If you’re looking for a devoted friend and companion and can find it in your heart to fulfill Ellie’s dream of a person or family who will love, cherish, protect and care for her the rest of her precious little life, please submit an adoption application for her. There is no greater reward than the love of an animal who has been deprived of so much, but is willing to trust again…
ATDR is seeking donations, big or small, to help with the cost of Ellie's needed veterinary care. Your support is very much appreciated...we couldn't provide care and save babies like Ellie without your help!
