Hi, my name is Gunther. I am a very sweet little boy who found myself in a shelter after my time was up as a breeder. I know I am not the most handsome boy. My jaw has been broken and healed a little funny, my back scarred a bit (with boiling water I think), my ear torn by a breeder tag, and my beautiful Doxie voice turned soft and hoarse by cruel de-barking. I am also a little thin but working VERY hard to fix that!!!
For all this, my foster mom says I am the most loving, trusting boy. I just crave love and affection and give it in return. I just love people and kids. I have recently gone on several trips to the dog park where I played with all the dogs and made friends with every human I saw. They were all so kind to me....I liked that. I think I would love romping with children who are maybe over age 7. I also enjoyed a trip to Petco. Kind of scary at first, but my foster mom was nearby and there were lots of interesting smells. After all my time in a cage, I love walks and going outside....and I would really prefer to have a nice, safe fenced yard in my new home. I am making friends with my foster brother. He is strange...chasing after things they throw for him. I do not understand why but I am watching closely. Maybe I will think about chasing one too some day. For now I am chasing fingers and toes around the floor when people get down on my level to play with me.....I know not to bite them though.
The Dr. told me I was very lucky to be Heartworm negative. So I now have my shots, clean teeth, and neuter and I am ready for a new home. I know my appearance has some imperfections, but my foster mom tells me I have the most handsome spirit, beautiful heart, sweet nature, and loving disposition for any dog (much less for what I have endured) and assures me every day there is a family out there who will see me for my TRUE self and not just my appearance. I think she must be right, so I am trying very hard to learn all I should to be the very best little boy so, someday soon, someone will choose me to be their new companion. Are you my someone???
