Ernie is now residing in a comfortable foster home where his foster parents report that he's a very active guy. He loves his squeaky tennis ball and thinks he needs to have ALL the toys in the house! He's definitely the alpha dog in their pack so he will need to have a chill friend who will let him steal all the toys in a new home. Ernie is great fun and even plays well with his foster parents' blind and deaf puppy. He uses the doggie door and loves to chase and bark at squirrels.
Ernie will begin heartworm treatments soon. He's still walking his journey to better health.
5.19.22 ATDR received and answered a medical rescue request from our friends at Grand Prairie (Texas) Animal Control.
Ernie was weak, exhausted and unable to stand when he was found and brought to the shelter. His condition worsened, but we were able to get him admitted to the Emergency Hospital in Mansfield, with the help of a wonderful ACO who transported Ernie for us.
He remains hospitalized at this time, with low platelets and fluid on his lungs and is undergoing a multitude of tests. Please keep Ernie in your thoughts and prayers!
If you would like to help us help Ernie, please know that no donation is too small, as every single dollar counts! Please go to the donate on the left hand side of this page or mail a check or money order to ATDR's address above that. Anything would be greatly appreciated by ATDR and Ernie.
