Precious Phoebe is an outgoing, friendly, shapely girl with alot of pep considering the extra pounds she is carrying. She's now sharing life in an ATDR foster home where she will be enjoying a good spa diet and gentle leash walks in order to work toward losing about 25% of her current weight...she will definitely need to be kept on a measured diet in a forever home and never free fed which would give her the convenience to graze all day. She sadly lost her home when the only family she'd ever known since being a tiny puppy decided they wanted big dogs and surrendered her to a rescue, walking away and never looking back. Phoebe will be well loved and well cared for with ATDR and we've vowed to help her get on a path to better health and find the perfect forever home for her where she'll be cherished and never homeless again. Sweet Phoebe is good with other dogs and gentle children. She does well on a leash, if slowly and not too far, and she rides well in a car. She definitely wants to be near her people and will lend a helping paw to clean flowerbeds. No accidents in her foster home yet; she seems to whine a bit and shift around when she needs to go outside. She sleeps well in a crate at night and enjoys the safely fenced yard at her leisure during the day often entertaining herself barking at the dogs next door and running after the cats! All in all, she's pretty quick for a chubby girl!
If you're looking for a wonderful companion and best friend to love and share all the good things in life with, please submit an adoption application for Phoebe. She yearns to have someone of her own to love again...
2.10.25 Update on Phoebe from her foster mom: She jumps for joy when I get out her harness and is so excited to get on with her walk! She actually does not walk until we turn around to go home -- she has become a runner and does so with a cheeky grin! Loves the outdoors AND her new best friend is a cat who has adopted her. She will bark and chase cats but when they stop so does she wanting to get close and kiss them. She does the same to her doggie friends who visit us. She is trying to learn to play chase with her doggie friends too. She is not slow in any way except when we head for home and then she dillie-dallies trying to extend her walk. She will be spayed on March 10 and then she should be good to go to a new forever home. Vet said her body fat has been replaced with muscle so we are on a good road!
