Jed's story is one that will make your blood boil. A couple who are previous ATDR adopters were driving home from a Thanksgiving Day outing when they spotted Jed and another dachshund, Jacob tied up outside in the frigid cold weather with no shelter and literally starving. This couple stopped and gave the poor dogs all their leftover food and the dogs inhaled it, wagging their tales as they choked it down. Then they got busy contacting the authorities and the local Sherriff's department went out to investigate. They spent a few weeks at the shelter waiting until finally Jed and his buddy, Jacob were handed over to ATDR.
Due to horrible neglect Jed is so ematiated you can count all his ribs. We also learned this sweet boy has Heartworms so he will have to endure treatment, once he's healthy enough to start. For now, Jed is recuperating in a foster home, eating good quality food, sleeping in a warm clean bed and soaking up lots of TLC. Stay tuned for updates and new pictures as this gorgeous boy fills out!
