Description:
Meet Heidi, a beautiful red girl whose family wanted to have her put down when her elderly parent was no longer able to care for her. Fortunately, the vet would not euthanize a perfectly healthy dog and instead took custody of Heidi and planned to keep her as a family member. She brought Heidi up to date on shots, gave her a dental cleaning and put her in doggie bootcamp to bring her from a chubby 20 lbs down to the svelte 11 lbs she’s currently at. What a weight loss success story! We think part of the weight loss routine involved a treadmill as Heidi loves to run in circles and will do so for hours. Her tummy is just now starting to grow hair back from being rubbed clean from constantly dragging the ground!

After spending her entire life in the quiet home of an older person, Heidi was not able to adapt to being in an active home with two young boys, so the vet contacted us to find a more suitable home for Heidi. Her foster home has three other doxies and Heidi gets along great with all of them. She does like rough housing, but still spends of lot of time to herself.

Heidi’s foster daddy is the only male human in the home and it’s taken a lot of time for her to warm up to him. They are making great progress, but it will take time and patience for any new man in her life to win her trust. Ideally, an ‘all female’ home would be best as Heidi has no trust issues with women at all. She would do fine with other dogs or as an only pet.
