Gabriella, aka Gabby, was originally an owner surrender at the Wichita Falls Humane Society, she was rescued from that horrid place (Gabbys words) and now happily lives with her foster mom and 3 siblings in Wichita Falls. Gabby is a real sweetheart! She loves sitting on laps & getting hugs and scratches! Someone has taught her to NOT lick faces. She will put her nose right up to your face but very, very, very seldom actually licks you in the face. Hands, arms, & legs is fair game though!!!! She hasn’t been allowed to sleep with me (I don’t want to teach her habits her forever home may not allow), but she’s so snuggly I’m sure she would be happy to let you share her bed. At first she was a bit on the timid side, but has turned out to be anything but timid! Gabby is very well house trained. She is also crate trained, gets fed in her crate and would rather drink water from the bowl in her crate than the communal water bowl. When frightened she runs and hides in her crate.  On the other hand, she is possessive of HER space & will chase her siblings out if they invade her crate.   Gabriella is protective! She doesn’t like the other dogs getting close to her food, including rawhide chews, bones, etc.! She also protects my food from the other dogs, much to my annoyance when I’m attempting to cook! Initially, she did not get along well with the other female doxie I have. There were several fights with blood drawn and in one unfortunate incident, stitches were required. However, she gets along with the male dogs very well!!! So far she has never been possessive of toys. Gabby loves going to the dog park and plays well with the other dogs.  She also  likes to just going off by herself and sniff around.   She rides well in a vehicle and is leash trained.  True to her doxie heritage squirrels & birds are evicted post haste! Any “invaders” are loudly announced and warned that this is HER territory!

Unfortunately Gabriella tends to be nippy with strangers and especially when she is stressed. She will snap if hurt. Although she has never snapped at me, she has growled and nipped at several people. In all instances the person was a stranger and they reached for her while I was holding her. If strangers just have patience and let her approach them, she doesn’t nip!

Her foster, adoptable, brother is Quinn. They get along great and would be happy to be adopted together but they aren’t bonded.

Please don’t let her location in Wichita Falls be a factor in considering her for adoption! I will transport up to 400 miles, one way, for meet & greets and/or adoption. She is an adorable furbaby and would make a wonderful addition to your family
