Description: Hershey, AKA "Sir Chunk-olate", is a mature and handsome chocolate boy whose owner became ill and couldn’t take him with her to her new assisted living residence. He's a very sweet and loving guy who has clearly never missed a meal or a snack so his foster mom is incorporating exercise and a better diet to help him shed a few lbs. He gets along great with his foster bothers and sisters and does well with cats too! He’s adjusting to his new surroundings and loves to play with his toys. He has even brought his leash to his foster mom to let her know when he wants to go for a walk! Hershey's looking for a loving home he can retire to, and would be one grateful boy and reward you with lots of hugs & loving!
Update: October 1, 2008 - Call him "Not so Chunky any more"! Hershey has already lost 2+ lbs and is feeling much more frisky & active these days! He still loves to chill and relax though & is a total sweetheart who is full of personality. His foster mom is really enjoying watching the transformation and says "Don't count this guy out! He's a fun, silly and loving boy who's looking for a forever home of his very own!"
Update: October 27, 2008 - Hershey has had a bit of a set back and needs your help. He has been diagnosed with a perineal hernia in the rectum and is in need of surgery as soon as possible. This surgery is expensive and we need donations toward his procedure. This sweet boy is otherwise in very good health having just had a Senior Blood Panel and just needs to get over this hurdle in order to go to a forever home. Please visit our home page to help Hershey!!
Update: November 4, 2008 - Hershey had his surgery on October 31st and is doing well. The surgeon discovered that he had not one, but two hernias which made a complicated procedure even more challenging - and expensive. Fortunately, she was able to remove both hernias at the same time. Hershey has two 3” incisions on his bottom and his foster mom is doing all the “aftercare” to the letter. Hershey is very patient and doesn’t complain…he's still as sweet as ever! The vet checked him a few days after surgery and said he is healing well and we anticipate a full recovery. Hershey's medical expenses have become quite high and he would appreciate any donation you could make on his behalf. e on his behalf.
Update: December 8, 2008 - Hershey had his final post surgical check up and the vet says he's doing fantastic. He's down to a svelte 13 lbs and is keeping up with all his younger foster brothers. The only thing missing is his forever home. He is a newer improved Hershey Boy and would love a forever home for the holidays!!
