We lost our precious Ginger to heart failure on January 31, 2018, at the age of seventeen and a half. A local shelter called me in November of 2009 to come get her, found as a stray. She quickly went from being our foster dog to our own. She was my shadow, wanting to be with me every second. She had been on three heart medications and had been doing very well, but had stopped eating and became weak very quickly. I held her tightly in my arms, kissing her and telling her goodbye. My artist friend, and fellow ATDR rescuer, gave me this beautiful drawing of her. My heart aches and I miss holding her. Rest in peace, sweet Ginger. You will always have a special place in my heart.

It is with a heavy heart that I have to share the passing of Moonpie. He was the happiest little snugglebug and I miss him terribly.
The picture here is my favorite and is my phones wallpaper. Looks like he's talking to you! :)
Thank you again for bringing him into my life. I will adopt again someday. Just need a little more time ....

The Baroness came to us 2 ½ year ago at 14 years old, 7 lbs., deaf, partially blind, no teeth, and missing most of her lower jaw bone. She had been dumped in a shelter and thankfully ATDR pulled her and began the task of returning her to health. This entailed removal of all her teeth and antibiotics for a massive infection in her mouth and ears. I was immediately drawn to her, she seemed so lost and confused that I knew she had to come live with us. Linne’ agreed that we could “foster” her but I am sure she knew that we were going to adopter her just like we did with Tennyson and Maudet. Right from the start The Baroness set the ground rules, basically it was going to be her way or no way. She managed to terrify Maudet and to keep Tennyson at a safe distance by grumping at them. She also did not like anyone coming into her castle or attempting to touch her or her servants. She was a very finicky eater, and with her having no teeth or lower jaw bone all her food had to be pureed or chopped very fine. She demanded a revolving menu of roast pork, chicken (both roasted and barbequed), liverwurst, milk sweetened with sugar, yogurt, wet dog food pureed with chicken broth, and she absolutely loved whipped cream. She had a ritual before she would eat a meal. First, she would walk around her bowl several times, then she would start to lick the air above her meal, this would go on for a minute or two before she would lower her head and begin eating. Despite all of her medical problems The Baroness was a very resilient and determined little lady. She taught me a lot about perseverance, trust, and the ability to overcome any obstacle. She was part of our lives for such a brief time, but she made an enormous impact on us and everyone she came in contact with. Our time together was short but oh so fulfilling, the love and trust she gave to me will stay with me forever, and the memories of her tiny little antics will bring a smile to my face for the rest of my days. The Baroness crossed the bridge April 1st, 2018 at 7:38pm in my arms. She is now hearing all the wonderful sounds and beautiful sights denied her on this earth. I will see you my dearest one when it is my time to walk across that bridge. We will always love you, David, Rolf, Tennyson, & Maudet

A tribute to our dear sweet one and only ANNIE, it will be two years ago this week we lost our ANNIE. ANNIE was with us only a short time, but her presence was pronounced. She was independent , she strutted with a little junk in her trunk, she never hesitated to tell the world what she thought. ANNIE brought such joy to our home, she was a great friend to all the other four legged beings in our home, she shared her great warmth on a cold day and wet kisses when she thought they were needed. We miss the little black hairs all over the house, now there’s only red and white. We had a song we sang to ANNIE every night when we would tuck her into bed. My Sweet Sweet Annie My Sweet Sweet Annie You Have Such A Long Nose And Pretty Little Toes And A Big Belly We Love You So Much Our Annie Girl. These were the last words she heard from me, our weeping will never stop over the loss of such a wonderful dog. We pray you are happy with our LORD. The Nedrow Family

In loving memory from left to right: Penny, Precious, Chloe and Zoe, our little Aggie Dachshund angels were loved and cherished for many years...then our hearts broke when we lost our Zoe, and then Chloe and Penny. Sweet Precious is still with us and being treated like the princess she is with afternoon car rides, a party with ice cream treats and hats on her birthday and all of her favorite things day in and day out. We miss her sisters dreadfully, as does our beloved Precious. They will be loved and missed and will occupy a cherished place in our hearts forever. Run free Sweet Babies until we're all together again some day. ~Connie Towery Schielack

My husband and I have been lucky enough to adopt 2 sweet doxies from your organization. We got our first, Beau, in October of 2006. Sadly, he passed away in 2011 and I wrote Linne to let her know. In April of 2008, we took Beau to the Wiener Dog Races in Buda and stopped by the ATDR booth to let them know we had recently purchased a house and were interested in fostering.
We were surprised to hear that someone had dropped off a little dappled boy with 1 blue eye and they needed someone to take him that day. Since we had already been vetted to adopt Beau, we were the lucky people who got to take Happy home to "foster". ;)
Needless to say, we decided we couldn't give him back and he became my constant companion. He lived with us for 10 years, in 6 houses in 3 states. We had 3 children who loved him so much and got another dog in 2016 from the Humane Society in Tulsa while living in Oklahoma who became his new sister.
In his years, Happy beat a type of cancer called sarcoma and recovered from back surgery to regain use of his back legs. Sadly, he took a quick turn for the worse a few weeks ago and the vet suspected liver cancer. He passed away a week later, on September 9. We are heartbroken but so thankful for the years we got with him and to ATDR for helping us to find each other.
I just wanted to thank you for the work you do and for the years we got to spend with Happy and Beau.
Sincerely, Barbara Leonard
