Herb & Romeo
Although he never smoked in his life, Herbert Wong, our friend and supporter lost a tireless and courageous battle with lung cancer in June 2006.

Herbert and his wonderful and devoted wife, Shirley, are both very special people who have been instrumental in the formation and continued success of ATDR. It is with the utmost love, admiration, and respect for both Herbert and Shirley that we take a moment to let you know just how special is their contribution to both human and animal lives.

Herbert was the embodiment of a quote by Ralph Waldo Emerson which states “You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.”  Herbert lived his entire life doing kind deeds for others, all the while seeing them as a normal course of action. It was important to Herbert to feel that he had made a positive impact on the world either by helping people, helping animals, or helping the environment. Herb has touched many lives, and in so doing, has left each one of us with a special and unique gift.

Herbert and Shirley's passion has always been to help out the less fortunate, and their passion for animal rescue is remarkable. Although Herbert is no longer with us in body, through Shirley, his sweet, kind, generous spirit lives on. He continues to watch over these wee ones from above as they come to ATDR for help.  It is truly a pleasure to know people like the two of them.

Thank you, Herbert and Shirley.  ATDR and these precious, helpless dachshunds in need are eternally grateful. Bless you, for your work lives on.
