Special Needs: Dexter is OK with older teenagers, but not smaller children or babies...they make him nervous.

Bark, Woof, Bow Wow! Run, play, snuggle, nap, chase squirrels, grab my squeaky toy then I’m off and running around the yard!  

I’m little Dexter! I’m a 10-year-old Dachshund born in February 2009.  I have reddish brown fur with a white face and a happy, loving, sweet personality.

My sweet human Mom went to the Rainbow Bridge in November of 2018. My doggie sister went to the bridge at Christmas in 2017. I have lived with my Mommy and my Auntie since I was 6 months old. We’ve had a loving home with a small fenced yard and a doggie door so I could run in and out, play and have fun. Dexter will need to be adopted by someone that lives in a house and not an apartment. My Auntie has to sell my Mommy’s home and move into an apartment… she loves me beyond measure and is very sad because apartments don’t have a small yard to play unleashed. She doesn’t want to part with me and our puppy love; however, she knows that I can’t be alone in an apartment all day while she’s at work.

I need a new forever home. I love adults of all ages and big, teenage kids. I would be a great companion for a couple, or a single adult, or a family with older kids who have a home with a fenced yard. Young, small children and babies make me nervous. I love to play, nap, run, lap cuddle, take leashed walks, and go to the doggie park. I also enjoy car rides.  

I have much more living to do and I have an enormous amount of love to give to you and your family. 

I have all of my current up-to-date veterinary vaccinations. I will come to you freshly bathed, with a new clean pet bed and fresh dry and canned healthy food to start our new life together. My Auntie is praying to find a wonderful new forever home for me. Would you please consider adopting me into your loving family and home?
