Hi there!!!! My name is Shooter. I am a very happy, agreeable fellow. I am a very friendly guy with people and other dogs (No cats or other critters please). I love playing with toys and wrestling and chasing with the other dogs. But there is another side to me. I am a big snuggler. I just like nothing better than to snuggle into my foster mom's chair with her or hide deep under the bed covers and pillows in the hopes that she will forget to put me in my crate....sometimes I win! I can't wait for a home all my own where I can snuggle in the bed every night....I just love napping in the bed with my special person.
Mom says I can be tad adventurous. Once, I got stuck under the tool shed digging out a rat (WHAT!!! I'm a DACHSHUND and there are no badgers around here). And once, I tried to go thru the fence to get to the wonderful splishy-splatter sprinkler on the other side (I just love playing in the sprinkler). So, mom says I must have a home with a very secure fence. I am an independent fellow and like to explore outside, and mom says I can be tone deaf if I am on the trail of something (like rogue squirrels or marauding cats) so I think I might enjoy some obedience training with very tasty treats...lots of tasty treats!!! I am very smart and I think I can probably learn all kinds of things. I do love to chase and play and tumble all around the yard with my foster brother. We just love racing around the yard and tumbling each other over. I would love a secure backyard of my own to explore and play in and maybe a doggie buddy to go with it!!! I'm waiting for my special family to come find me!!! Until then....I think I hear a sprinkler running.......
Shooter is an extremely sweet fellow and very loving, snuggly, happy and friendly. He is also very typical doxie and can get himself into mischief with his prey drive and tunnel vision when he is on the trail of something or sees a critter to chase, so it is very important he has a secure wooden fence, a home with dogs only, and an experienced doxie owner. He is a wonderful boy and would be great with older kids (teens) who understand about keeping him safe by keeping gates and outside doors closed. He would also make a wonderful dog for a mature couple or empty nesters. Shooter also enjoys paling around with his best man human (although he loves his foster mom very much too!) so he would probably enjoy a home with a man in the house to be his buddy.
