You might wonder why a stray dog from Oklahoma would be named Tex, but obviously with Tex you get a long little doggy! Tex was picked up on the streets and no one came looking for him, so he ended up traveling south to ATDR. He is a very sweet boy who loves giving kisses, getting belly rubs, and chasing both real-life squirrels and squeaky toys that only pretend. He's very energetic but isn't puppy level inexhaustible. He loves fetch with his squeaky bunny and is smart enough that he could definitely be taught other games and tricks with very little effort. He is in the process of learning basic obedience and got the 'drop' command with a single day of work! He is doggy door trained. He also loves walks and moves like he’s on a mission the whole time. Like most dachshunds, he does love a good snuggle under the covers. He does bark on occasion (much deeper than you would expect with his size!), but it’s rare. He gets along splendidly with his senior foster brother, and would likely be even happier with someone (or someones) more willing to play with him.
If you're looking for a precious boy to love and share all the good thing in life with, please submit an adoption application for Tex. He's waiting to be your devoted best friend and companion!
