Description: Sweet Pepper Anne was dumped at a local city shelter with her male dachshund companion, by her own family! She is blind and somewhat overweight, and was very sad to have lost the only family she has ever known. What were they thinking? She is adjusting in her new foster home and is being very brave and stoic for a homeless girl! Her buddy was adopted so she even lost her best friend too!
If you have a place in your heart or experience with a blind dog please consider helping a girl out! She seems to be fine with other dogs, ok with cats(probably because she can't see them) and really really good with humans. She would love a place with a big open yard to explore without getting hurt! She would thrive in a home where someone is home often as she likes to hang out with her people and will follow them around until she gets more secure. She is fully vetted and spayed
Stay tuned as Pepper joins Weight Watchers and begins the long journey back to her new self!
Update 3/27/13: Pepper Ann has lost about 4 lbs and is now down to 21 lbs. She still has another 5-6 lbs to lose. She is housetrained, crate trained and is moderately active. She sleeps in a dog bed at night with her foster sister. Pepper Ann loves to snuggle with her foster mom on the couch before bed time. Due to her blindness she doesn't play with toys or other dogs. She does well riding in a car and walks well on a leash but does best on known paths. She has the cutest soft howl when she can't get to her foster mom and she loves carrots.
Update: 5/29/13 After joining the contestants on the biggest loser, Pepper Ann is down to a svelte 18lbs. 12 ounces. Her regimen of controlled portions and daily walks around the pond have really paid off. Recently daily jumping jacks, trying to get to the tiny bottle fed kittens that are kept just out of her reach, has also contributed to her success.
